Urbanization and the resultant land use change is the most alarming challenge to developing countries. This monograph is my Ph.D research work which focus on the urbanization of Bangalore city of Karnataka, India. Varied aspects of urbanization are discussed here such as demography, spatio-temporal expansion of the city, land use, land transformation, urban growth suitability model etc. Application of Soft System Methodology to create "Righ picture" that could generate spatial history is exemplified here. Geoinformatics is applied as tool to analyse and quantify the transformation of land. The book provides an overall idea on urban based analysis and with specific application of Geoinformatic techiques to urban expansion and land transformation studies. I am sure this work would give suitable support to future research works on urbanization of any city and in particular to Bangalore.
