Summary taken from container.
The film examines the roles played by politicians, and corporations in taking advantage of the helplessness of the downtrodden. Puttakka, the protagonist of ’Puttakkana highway’ and many other villages are displaced from their native village by the backwaters of a newly constructed dam. But fate seems insistent on disturbing her peace, as the village she later settles in, is marked to be literally bull dozed by a spanking new privately constructed highway. Puttakka, widowed by a freak accident, stands to lose not just a source of livelihood but also, very painfully, her husband’s grave. She goes from pillar to post, in a effort to prevent the inevitable. The film raises a strong voice against our lopsided vision of development. Will she succeed is the crux of the film.
