Acquisition of Land is a must for setting up of industry, development of essential infrastructure facilities and urbanization. Until 2013 the demand of land for these purposes were fulfilled through the Land Acquisition Act, 1894, which was riddled with its own drawbacks and abuses. This 120 year old Act was replaced by a new Act, known as Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013.
